Robbery Good News Story |
||
|
Dear all,
I just wanted to write to you with a good news story from late last night regarding a robbery in Wimbledon.
The team and I were out on patrol, as part of our local policing operation for the World Cup.
A member of the public called saying that they had sadly been the victim of a robbery and that the suspect had just fled the scene. We made our way to the area, arriving within approximately a minute.
We began taking details from the victim, whilst also conducting a search of the area, alongside our colleagues from the emergency response team.
Only a few moments later, a foot chase of a suspect ensued. The suspect was detained and subsequently arrested.
Alongside a dog unit, we carried out an extensive area search for the phone, which was still missing. We found it discarded in the street. It was a great result seeing this in the dark.
It's not lost on us just how important our phones are nowadays. They not only carry lots of vital apps like banking and such for our daily life. But more importantly, treasured photos, messages and memories from loved ones, family and friends. That's why they really matter.
With best evidence principles and the victims needs at the heart of our decision making, we arranged for the phone to be forensically examined at the scene by our scenes of crime team. Within half an hour, the victim was reunited with their phone. After what would have been a very difficult experience for them, we dropped them home. Our investigation into the robbery continues.
Its neighbourhood policing week this week, where nationally police forces are sharing some of the good work that is being conducted across their local communities.
I hope this just provides a flavour of how passionate we are about fighting crime locally and reassuring victims of crime in their time of need.
Best wishes and kind regards. Oli | ||
